It's Over

The McCain-Palin rally at the Virginia Beach Convention Center just ended (Noon, EST). It's the most energetic I've seen McCain in a while. No, I wasn't there--I watched as a curious citizen via a live webcast by the local newspaper, The Virginian-Pilot.

Most striking oddity: seeing Cindy McCain and Hank Williams, Jr. side-by-side.

Most striking comment: McCain sought to strike fear in the heart of his supporters and motivate them to action by pointing out that he is six points behind in the polls and that Obama is "measuring the drapes" in the White House.

Love the ambiguous title! :)

The next three weeks should be really interesting...

inrepair: you noticed :)

the musical guest at political rallies "says it all" in terms of the demographic to which a campaign is seeking to appeal.

HWJ was wearing a Washington Redskin football jersey and not the hat pictured. Had he been wearing the hat he'd have been right at home with the audience since a recent Republican governor of the state boasted of having a rebel flag hanging on the wall in his den. It was still quite a contrast to see HWJ and Cindy Mac standing next to each other.

In response to McCain's comment: I guess when you're short on ideas and feeling desperate there's not much left but to play to people's fears and/or prejudices.
